1. What they are and why this page exists

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser to remember something between one page and the next. The law requires asking your permission before using any that are not strictly necessary, and always informing you about the ones that are, even where no permission is needed.

This page fulfils that second obligation. The first does not apply to us, for the reason in the next section.

2. What this website stores in your browser

This site installs no analytics or advertising cookies, neither our own nor third-party ones. That is why there is no banner: there is nothing to consent to.

The only cookie that may appear is the one from the site's chat. If you write to the assistant, our server leaves a random identifier in your browser called oubi_cid, used solely to count the messages in that conversation and to stop automated abuse. It carries no name, no email address, nothing of yours, and it only travels to the chat's own address. It is detailed in the next section. If you never open the chat, that cookie never comes into existence.

We measure how many visits the site receives with Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which work without cookies and without identifying you: they record the page visited, approximate country, device type and referrer, in aggregate. No profile is built and you are not tracked across sites.

There is no advertising pixel, no social network SDK and no third-party tracking tool on this site. That is not a statement of intent: the code simply is not there.

We also store your language preference on these legal pages, in local storage rather than in a cookie, so we do not have to ask again. It is a technical value, it does not identify you, and you can clear it from your browser settings whenever you like.

3. The cookies, one by one

The first one belongs to this website. The other three do not live on ronus.tech but in the RONUS app and in each business's public booking page. All of them are strictly necessary: without them you cannot write to the chat, sign in or complete a booking. That is why they do not require prior consent, but we do have to tell you about them:

• oubi_cid: identifies your conversation with this site's assistant so the anti-abuse system can count the messages coming from it. It is a random number generated on the spot, with none of your data inside. First-party, not accessible from scripts (HttpOnly), sent only over a secure connection and limited to the chat's address. Duration: 12 months.
• rufus_consumer: keeps your session after you verify your phone by SMS, so you do not have to verify on every screen. First-party, not accessible from scripts (HttpOnly) and signed. Duration: 90 days.
• rufus-lang: remembers which language you prefer. First-party. Duration: 12 months.
• Supabase session cookies: our authentication provider uses them to keep you signed in to the panel. Session cookies, expiring on sign-out or token expiry.
• The "rufus" prefix in two of these names is a remnant of the company's previous name. It is kept deliberately: changing it would sign everyone out at once.

4. How to delete or block them

You can delete existing cookies and block future ones from your browser settings. Note that if you block the technical ones listed above you will not be able to sign in or finish a booking: it is not a punishment, that cookie IS the session.

Usual paths: Chrome, Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. Safari, Preferences → Privacy. Firefox, Settings → Privacy & Security. Edge, Settings → Cookies and site permissions.

On mobile there are two cases. A business account's session lives in the system's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android) rather than in a cookie, and is cleared by uninstalling the app or signing out. The identity of the person booking is the rufus_consumer cookie described above: the app keeps it in the system cookie store and deletes it when you sign out or delete your account.

5. If this changes

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary (identified analytics, advertising, any third-party measurement), a prior consent banner will appear before it is installed, with the option to refuse just as accessible as the one to accept, and this page will be updated beforehand.

While this page says what it says today, there is nothing to consent to.

This policy covers only storage on your device. Everything else, meaning what data we process, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have, is in the Privacy Policy: ronus.tech/privacy.
